The hook block (or hook chuck) of a Bulgarian hoist is a load-gripping mechanism that is the final element of the lifting device. It is designed to secure the load being lifted and is critical for operational safety.
Basic Structure of a Hook Block The block consists of several key components: Load Hook: The primary element that supports the load's weight. It has a special shape and is made of high-strength forged steel. It is equipped with a safety lock (latch) to prevent accidental slippage of the slings.
Case (Housing): A metal structure housing the axles, pulleys, and bearings.
Pulleys (Rollers): In hoists with a pulley system (e.g., 2/1, 4/1), one or more pulleys are located inside the case, through which the rope is passed. This allows the rope to be redirected and reduces the load on the motor (at the expense of increasing the rope length).
